Description

Wormwood – Dried Herb for Witchcraft & Rituals

Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is a distinctive aromatic herb with a long history in European folklore, traditional practices and magical symbolism. A relative of Mugwort, Wormwood has become particularly associated within modern witchcraft with protection, banishing, divination, spirit work and psychic awareness.

Its strong magical correspondences make Wormwood especially suited to workings involving boundaries, release, spiritual exploration and protection.

🌙 Magical & Spiritual Uses

🛡️ Protection – Incorporate Wormwood into protection jars, witch bottles and charm bags when setting intentions around strong spiritual boundaries.

🌑 Banishing – Particularly suited to workings focused on symbolically removing unwanted influences, breaking unwanted patterns and leaving something behind.

🔮 Divination – Use around tarot, oracle, rune or scrying setups when focusing on intuition and spiritual awareness.

👻 Spirit Work – Wormwood has longstanding folkloric associations with spirits and the unseen, making it suitable for symbolic spirit and ancestor workings.

🌙 Psychic Awareness – Incorporate into magical practices centred around intuition, dreams and deeper spiritual exploration.

🌑 Banishing & Release Magic

Wormwood is especially well suited to banishing and release workings.

Combine it with ingredients such as Rue, Black Peppercorns, Sea Salt, Rosemary or Juniper Berries when creating a personalised spell jar focused on releasing unwanted influences and establishing stronger boundaries.

🔮 Divination & Intuition

Wormwood can be placed on a divination altar or incorporated into workings performed alongside tarot cards, oracle cards, runes, pendulums or scrying tools.

Pair it with Mugwort or Star Anise for workings centred around intuition and spiritual awareness.

🛡️ Protection Workings

For protection-focused spellwork, combine Wormwood with Angelica Root, Rosemary, Sage, Juniper Berries or Sea Salt.

It can be incorporated into a protection jar, witch bottle or intention bowl when your goal is to symbolically strengthen the boundaries surrounding yourself or your space.

👻 Spirit & Ancestor Work

Wormwood’s folkloric associations with spirits make it an interesting addition to ancestor altars and spirit-focused ritual spaces.
